UV Water Disinfection System

What is UV Water Disinfection System?

UVC disinfection system uses ultraviolet (UV) rays to kill or inactivate microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens. This process disinfects the water without changing its taste, colour, composition, or odour. Wherever water is applied, we are there.

Working Principle of UV Water Disinfection System.

The water passes through a chamber containing a UV lamp that emits germicidal UV-C rays. The UV-C spectrum of rays, particularly at a wavelength of 253.7 nm, is used to inactivate or destroy harmful microorganisms. This system effectively destroys the DNA and RNA of these microorganisms, preventing replication and rendering them harmless.

Design & Construction

  • UV Chamber (Reactor): Typically fabricated from SS 316L (electro-polished cylinder) where water is exposed to UV rays, ensuring maximum durability and resistance to chloride and industrial solvents.
  • UV Lamp: The core of the system, made of high-quality Quartz UVC lamps that emit germicidal UV-C rays. The average lifespan of the lamp is approximately 16,000 hours.
  • Quartz Sleeve: Made of fused silica, a high-purity transparent material that protects the UV lamp from direct contact with water while allowing UV rays to pass through efficiently.
  • Ballast: An electronic ballast that controls the power supplied to the UV lamp, ensuring uniform and stable UV output. Its energy-efficient and compact design minimizes power consumption and saves space.
  • Control Panel: MS Powder coated control panel (IP 55) equipped with pilot lamp, indicator for each lamp, ON/OFF switch, and an hour meter.
  • Optional Items: The system can be equipped with advanced communication features, including 4–20 mA output and RS-485 MODBUS connectivity, for seamless integration with monitoring and control systems. It includes user-friendly menu options and an alarm system that notifies users if intensity, working hours, or temperature exceed ideal ranges.

Salient Features of Our UV Systems

  • High-quality UVC lamps designed to be energy-efficient and long-lasting.
  • High-transparency quartz ensures optimum germicidal performance.
  • Genuine parts are easily and readily available.
  • Compact systems — saving both space and time.
  • Long-lasting, low-power electronic ballasts for reduced energy consumption.
  • UV radiation chamber made from SS 316L electro-polished material, resistant to toxic environments.
  • Low maintenance and cost-effective — only periodic lamp replacement needed.
  • Environmentally friendly — no dangerous chemicals involved.
  • No change in water properties such as pH, temperature, taste, colour, composition, or odour.
  • Instant treatment with no processing delay.
  • Simple and safe to operate and maintain.
  • Model range available from a minimum of 350 LPH. Maximum capacity can be customized as per customer requirements.
  • Operating pressure: 0–125 Psi (tested at 170 Psi).
  • Protection panel: IP 55 rated.
  • Temperature range: Designed to operate efficiently between 0°C to 60°C for optimal germicidal performance. However, for short-term pipe sterilization, the temperature can be extended to 0–85°C.
  • Works best with clean and clear water — effectiveness reduces in turbid or cloudy water where particles may block UV rays. Pre-filtration is recommended for best results.
